I personally like Lucas products and use most of them. I have been using them for over 10 years without any issues in about 12 different vehicles.

The Oil Stabilizer also helps with oil leaks and taping lifters (if you would have this check oil pick up tube and good oil filter first).

I also use in the Transfer case, it helps with leaking seals. Of course I use there Diff oil for the diffs and transfer case as well.

I use Lucas in my engine, both diffs, the t/case, my automatic transmisson and both the steering and the ACE.
The stuff is really great especially if you have a Detroit locker, takes all the noise out of them.

Love it!

I've been using it for several years on a variety of vehicles. The power steering stabilizer is great and really helps those notorious ps leaks in a Rover.

I have heard good things about the sop leak for the power steering, when you use that stuff in your diffs motor oil etc what ratio of Lucas do you use to the respective fluid in its respective area, diff/tcase etc. etc.

I use it all the time and have been very happy with its performance. They have recently came out with a version desiged for synthetic oils. I have not used it yet, but I am sure is will work well.

On the diffs, if your using 90wt gear oil then go 50/50, if your using 140 like I do with my Detroit , I use a pint.

Phil is right. Lucas Power Steering Stop Leak is great. I topped it off about 10 months ago and it is still full. There is some seepage @ the crimp style clamps, however for the most part its ?controlled seepage?.

My D1 will turn 130k this week. I use one quart Lucas oil stabilizer and 6 quarts of dino oil at every oil change (usually at 4-5k intervals). The truck runs great, engine sounds good, and the valve train noise that I had previous to using Lucas is gone.

I buy the gallon size at around $20, and its one of the best products I've put in my Rover.

And its compatible with synthetics.

just changed the oil in the 96 last night. 1 part lucas stabilizer, alittle more than 6 quarts mobil 1 syn. i used the k&n 3001 filter too. NO TICS @ start-up, and it has been sorta cold here in the mornings -- guess its the combo of the "good" filter and the lucas... either way, i am very happy with the set up. i'm going to do this set up to the D2 @ it's next oil change too. thanks for all the insight. :D

Aren't we all after "controlled seepage" as Land Rover owners? :D

Jaime, do tell how the hell you putting it into drivetrain (diffs/t-case) from those big bottles? I havent yet met pump that would deal with lucas thick stuff nicely :(

Sergei,
I would have thought you would have figuire that one out. Use the nozzle cap that comes with the bottle and add a 6" piece of hose to it. Put the hose it the diff hole, tilt the bottle and squeezy like hell.

This will help to get that thick stuff up there.

Go to:

http://www.go2marine.com/

And search for "Drill pump kit"

It handled the thick stuff great for me. Depending on the size hose you use. It can pump the 90 wt. a heck of a lot faster than I could squeeze.

You will need an extra set of hands.

Sergei,

I don't use it in my diffs/t-case. I change the tcase oil yearly, and difs 2x year because of all the water crossings I do.

But were I to do it, I would take an empty gallon jug and put 2 quarts of 90 wt and one quart of Lucas, and stir well. Then when it was thinned out a bit, use the syringe type pump.

It should help build up your biceps :D

My '89 is completely leak-free. The 95 and 96 mark their territory all right :)
FWIW - I tried Lucas oil stabilizer to eliminate the tapping at the cold start. It worked for a little while, then ceased to make any difference.

Heat it up before putting in.
