I'm one of the lucky ones who as an 01 with a CDL in he transfer case (YEAH). :) My questions are which direction do I turn it to get it to engage and how much force should it take; about the same as going from high to low? I would like to check it out while I have time to kill. I saw the same question asked in another thread (nice bouncers fordbuiler98 BTW) but it wasn't answered.

Thanks for you response

Is that clockwise looking down from above? As for the build date I can't tell as the sticker on the driver door wasn't replaced when it was repaired / replaced before I bought it. Is there some other place to check?

It should be clockwise and it should move pretty easy. It should click over to the engaged position, its about a 1/8th turn if I remember correctly.

Great Thanks.

Follow up on the build date: The 7500 mile service stamp in the owners manual shows it was done @ 3600+ miles (warrenty work done at the same time?) on Nov 1st 2001. I would guess 1st quater of 01 or sooner for a build date. I'll see if the orginal dealer can tell me from the VIN #. I'll update if I find out.

My next task is to check local bone yard for a 04 that has met an untimely demise.

Be prepared to wait for a while. I got my '04 linkage from RoverLandParts, after almost 6 months of checking one popped up. I called a couple salvage yards and was told they won't sell the linkage until the t-case was sold.
