"The Air Mass Flow is determined by the cooling effect of inlet air passing over a ?hot film? element contained within the device. The higher the air flow the greater the cooling effect and the lower the electrical resistance of the ?hot film? element. The signal from the device is then used, by the M5.2.1 ECU, to calculate the Air Mass Flow into the engine. The measured air mass flow is used in determining the fuel quantity to be injected in order to maintain the stoichiometric air/fuel mixture required for correct operation of the engine and exhaust catalysts. Should the device fail there is a software backup strategy that will be evoked once a fault has been diagnosed."

Why do you think it has a problem? The only way to take accurate readings is thru TestBook. Are you too far from a dealer to let them test it under warranty?

I KNOW it has a problem, that being the owner/driver of the vehicle. :) I live 200 mi. from the dealer. I tried cleaning it with electronic parts spraycleaner to no avail. I just need to verify I was a bad driver :) Thought I'd check the MAF with an OHM meter to see if it was within specs before buying another MAF.

OK Then the answer is: there are no published specs that I know of regarding open-circuit readings on a MAF.
