KINGSBORNE, KINGSBORNE, KINGSBORNE!

~$50 shipped and just as good.

+1

I installed a set of 8mm about a month ago (along with new plugs and coils) and all is well. Customer service was pretty awesome too....called them 2:00 PM on a Thursday, got the package at my office 10:00 AM the next day. Of course YMMV (I work in Pasadena, Kingsborne is in SD).

technically, whats different between the kinsborne(I am not familiar with these) and magnacore?(which I use and like on my non rover )

the stock stuff has some unique funky looking ends on them. Are the kingsborne as basic simple and reliably put to gether as the magnacors? same supple rubber/silicone?

same type of inner lead?

Gem -

I don't know about Magnacores, but go to the Kingsborne web site and download the catalog. At the end, they list bulk wire, which I'm assuming is the same that they use to make their wires. Silicon jacket round a copper core - details are in the cat.

They look like they are high quality, and they've been recommended on this site by others. I've had them for a year - no problems. And at a significantly reduced cost compared to Magnacores, I'm a fan. That said, I'm not an expert on spark plug wire, so take what you will...

Ive been very opposed to using anything but rover wires but last month rover switched suppliers on the d2 wires and they do not fit well at all :banghead:
ive had several trucks come back and its the wires popping off of the plug and/or coil.

ive installed 2 sets of mags on d2 and a range bosch at home and cant be any happier. (cant install them at work for parts warranty reasons)

My RRC is in need of some new wires but not sure if i should go 8mm or 8.5mm. ive got a 4.6 with headers and cam and such what do you guys think?

Yeah WD40 does suck... I do not use it anymore for that reason. Also Ive bought directly and indirectly about 30 sets of wires from Magnacore. The last set also kept poping off the boots. In a pinch for a set of wires I bought the 9.0 mm universal set from MSD. 3 years and still going strong...

I just but a set of Magnecors on my D2.
While I found them to be of good quality and "clicked" nicely on to the coil and plugs.
I thought they should have been at least a couple inches longer.
I could not use any of the wire clips on the back of the intake because of this.
Are the Kingsborne any longer?

I had that same problem also.

are any of you using the magnecors AND ABLE TO ROUTE THEM CORRECTLY using the wire clips?

Yes, took a little to squeeze them in, but the routing went pretty well.

IIRC, a couple were longer than I though they could have been, and a couple a little tighter than they could have been as well, but everything ok eventually.

(Sorry for the crap pic, and feel free to pile on because I took the plenum off to reach the coils... but seriously PT, I really don't think it's possible with it on)

Its possible, I can do it on '00. If I lay on top of the motor i can fit my hand back there and kind of do it from above. But my '00 does not have as much crap right back there as your '04 does so its easier to get to them.

I just did this today w/o taking the plenum off. First time I'd done it and it took me a little over an hour with an extra set of hands. He was grabbing the new wires and helping me thread it through from the coil to the plug. It definitely helps to have an extra set of hands so you don't have to keep climbing on and off the car. I do have a half dollar size bruise on the top of my right hand. There was some bolt on the firewall that I kept pressing my hand into when I was trying to yank the old boots off.

I checked the plugs, they were fine. After brand new magnecors, I'm still getting codes for a multiple cylinder miss (0300) and a camshaft position sensor malfunction (0340).

At least I know it's not the plugs or wires. Great. I feel a lot better now...

I guess I just keep rolling down the list and eliminating things until the codes go away. I'm confused on the cam sensor code though... :banghead: I guess all I can do is take a look at it and test it... which means I gotta pull a few things off the front of the motor. Sweet. I know what will happen though. It will test fine. Just wait. It could be my coil pack that is f-d though. That would make sense on the 0300 code. Also, because it's one of the only things I HAVEN'T REPLACED on this friggin thing. I just want it to run right. GAAAHHHHHHHH!!!! Frustrating.... That is my vent for the first quarter.

Have you tried to jsut clear the codes and see if they fire back up? If I remember correctly, there should be a code that fires off for the coil packs instead of just the cylinder misfires. I say clear the codes and scan it again.
