Location: Mid Coast Maine Warren and Washington

Time: June 25,26,27 2010

What: This is the "Yang" of the Winter Romp. Different location, and harder trails.

Requirements:

-bumpers front and rear, diff guards etc
-fully operational winch and recovery points
-minimum tire size is 33"
-at least 1(prefer 2) lockers
-suitable off road tires and a full size spare and jack
-spares and tools and ability to use them
-NO WHINING
- a great attitude

*note* those with roof racks and lights might not like this....

There will be primitive camping or local lodging. This will be the first year and looking for those "serious" folks. Next year we will have a better, more well rounded selection of trails for everyone.

However, this year will be tough. Mechanical failure possible, body damage probable, this will depend on your driving ability.

Just to be clear, this is not some redneck run with lifted Chevy mud trucks. This is a Rover only event!

So, head on up to Maine in the summer and enjoy the trails without the snow!

If you're interested please reply to : shoddywire@gmail.com

Thanks and hope to see you there!

I hauled my 4 wheeler up to Rangeley last summer and some of the trails we rode would have been great for trucks, but I was the only truck and the area was way to remote to be out on my own.

Lots of 4wheeler/snowmobile trails up that way big enough for taking a rover on, one of the guys i work with takes his FJ on them.

I havent gotten out on them yet but that should change this summer, need to get out on them before we move and make the drive much less pleasant.

Finally got a feel for the place, too bad out of our 14K acres that we dont have any trails on it you can drive.

Wont be able to make the Black Fly Romp unfortunately though, i will be in the mountains around Rangeley being chased by dogs and search teams for our annual "Advanced Evasion" course. I think your event may be more fun......

What areas do you guys do that training in? All my family is scattered between Eustis and Livermore Falls and we have a cabin on Sandy River Ponds about 15 mins from Rangeley. I spent most of my childhood in the Maine woods.

Dont know if you know where 16 splits off of 4 and goes north. Just down the road a bit, where the road goes over a stream and makes a hard left there is a dirt road that goes back to our area.

its near a place called Dallas, its also called Redington. East north east of the center of town.

Yep, I know where you are talking about. You going to be around in late summer? If so then you'll have to join us at our cabin. Next time you go up rt. 4 look for Beach Hill road on the eastside of the highway about 8 miles from town. If you turn there you will come to a small bridge looking over a decent size pond. When the road comes to a fourway go right onto sandy road. go past the brand new cabin and ours is on the right. If someone is there then stop and say hi. It would either be my parents or cousins. 10,000 acres around there is owned by one man and it's open to the public. Just stay out of the way of the trucks hauling triple log trailers down off the mountain.

I'm up there every other week for at least the next 2.5 years. I will check out that place next Monday when I go up, I drive right past there coming up from Brunswick.
