Hey, so after reading numerous posts about past coolant issues here on Discoweb, i'm still stumped.
To begin, i had an inch gash in my lower hose - the one that goes to the thermostat, water pump and heater core outlet. After waiting about a week to get the hose shipped, i installed it yesterday, but was an idiot and did not follow the proper bleeding procedure after the installation.
I replaced the t-stat while installing the hose, and in doing so removed the bottom radiator hose, purging all of the fluid. I tried to refill as normal, but noticed that it only took about a gallon and a half of 50/50 duralast coolant, when the manual said it would need roughly 3 5/8 gallons to fill. Thinking nothing of it, (this being my first personal repair) i drove to work. I didn't even make it a block before he started to overheat, and had to return home.
I then did what i should have to begin and researched the proper bleeding procedure, according to the Rave CD posts here. I let the truck sit overnight, followed the steps - step by step and still am having major overheating issues. The heatercore is quiet and blows hot at idle, but the truck still goes hot after a mile or two.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks!
