west of the city...
FWIW: in an informal poll today, during my driving around of 3 suburbs west of Chicago ( Oak Park, Forest Park and River Forest) for a total of almost 8 hours, I made the following counts/observations.

Of the 354 Obama signs, 4 of those homes/businesses were also displaying an American flag.

Of the 38 homes/businesses displaying McCain signs, 36 of them were displaying American flags.

Discuss among yourselves...:patriot:

well that makes me feel good...either way the country is still patriotic:patriot:

lets face it no matter who wins somewhere in our countries future we will need the real patriots to step up and break this crappy two party system we have ended up with.

and that is really what being an American is all about:patriot:

How did flying a flag become the only metric for judging ones patriotism? If you have a raging eagle does that give you bonus points? If you have a flag, an eagle and "Proud to be an american" blaring on your stereo does that make you the king of patriotism? If you have a tattoo of the flag with an eagle and the flag and a baseball and eat apple pie to you get a prize?

And what is this "true patriot" crap?

You cannot judge the depth of a person's character by esoteric means.

Grow up!

You are absolutely correct as long as you don't live by double standards and accept that when people in the South fly the rebel flag, it isn't an outward sign of racism.

I am a Southerner born and bred. I understand the controversy over the Rebel Flag. I saw it as a symbol of self determination but I do understand that symbols mean different things to different people. had the Georgia general assembly not put the rebel flag on the GA state flag as an FU to de-segregation then I would have fought to keep it on our state flag but given the history it was the right thing to do to remove it.

Off subject here but has anyone heard about the "art" depicting palin with a noose around her neck? (There was also one of McCain but i dont recall what it was.) My point is if someone had done that with an Obama doll there would be riots and everything else. All that was said about this one is "well it is halloween"

Just read that story, the guy who did it was starting to get death threats, the Mayor finally convined this guy to remove it because of all the nastiness associated with it.

I find you response to be quite funny, and very telling (rather defensive, don't you think?). I personally find the comparison very interesting, but I will refrain from drawing any inferences from it. It is what it is (and it does not surprise me).

Not surprised that you didn't hear about the Obama effigy hung from a tree, with a noose around its neck, on the University of Kentucky campus...lots more media attention on the Palin effigy than the Obama one.

This thread shows how efficient we've become after months of practice during the campaign season. Instead of bringing up an issue that inevitably leads to mudslinging on all sides, we now just try to start fights right from the start ... Another pissing contest is just what we were short on, so thanks ...

Yeah Dee I am right there with you...Pelosi has proven to be the worst to ever hold her position they have gotten nothing accomplished and have used the bailout bill as a way to fund things that would never have gotten passed on their own merits.

guys like landrovered think liberalism is the best answer but yet the last two years shows how worthless ideas with no substance can play out for people.

You are just pimping me now.

Yes, liberalism is the best answer. It took eight years to fuck it up and it is going to take eight years to fix it.

Who are you going to hate more, Obama, Pelosi, Frank, Biden, Clinton, Kennedy, Reid or McCain for blowing the guts out of the conservatives for a generation?

yeah you know I am right there with you on this, I am looking forward to the elections being over so dweb can get back to a more normal bias. Its alot more fun for us to be biased twards land rovers together then clearly different political views apart.

I appreciate alot of the people on this site, as this election unfolds I see that many of the people I appreciate have different views than I do. I guess I am at fault for letting those differences creep into my viewpoints on other posts and I am mad at myself for letting that happen because I have always prided myself on being a very accepting person and all the seperatism that this election has caused has been a step backwards for me in my life, this site and I think this Nation as a whole.

I hope it dosent take another 911 to bring us all back together because the only way this country has ever thrived is as a united nation:patriot:
