Why, so you get more hassle at airports when you come back from overseas and they want to know why your new passports chip isnt working?

Or is it because you dont want the black hellicoptors with the men from the UN to come and impose their new world order on you and your family?

The second one. I think my foil hat is pretty sporty.

For real people, this is exactly why we need to vote independent.

Obama has nixed this idea........for now.

As far as the chips in the passports, the military were the guinea pigs on this as the military ID card or CAC (common access card) has a chip in it. You have to use it to log in to computers, gain access to buildings, and has medical info, etc.. on it. Big brother at its finest.

Cheers,

Mike

In Texas they already have all the data they need and the infrastructure to implement a per mile tax. We have to get annual inspection where the milage of the vehicle is recorded. The delta for the year could determine what you owe.

The gas tax is supposed to support road construction and maintenance. If a salesman drives a Prius (poor guy) 60000 miles a year. He drove over 60000 miles of roads that had to be built and maintained. He should pay his share of the usage of those roads.

The pressure from the government to push the fuel efficiency higher and higher is counter productive when it comes to figuring out how to pay for road construction and maintenance. If everyone drove pure electric vehicles then there is no tax revenue. Has anyone thought about that?

Right now we have years and years of data that accounts for the amount of money spent on highway construction and maintenance. We also have the total number miles driven by vehicles registered in the state of Texas. The math is simple and fair. ( total $$$ / total miles accounted for) * your miles driven = your road tax.

One more thought for those that don't agree. "Toll Roads" ( I despise toll roads BTW )
