95 got 12 until 2 weeks ago. something is up and its into the single digits now. 14cux sucks ass.

actually (back when I kept track) I DID get around 20 mpg in a d1

it was either I-25 s or 70/285 south toward roswell, new mexico before turning east on 380 heading into texas. there was a stretch that was downhill for more than a hundred miles straight. clocked around 20 or 21 mpg on that tank, no lies

DII with 265/75 gets averages about 14.5 with mixed use. I've only had the truck for a few weeks. The best mileage was around 17 through Yellowstone NP. But the speed limit helped. The worst was 13 going from Seattle to Butte at 70mph.

That is compensating for tire size increase. I was guessing about 5% based on GPS readings. The above calculator confirmed my percentage as correct.

My D1 with 255 85 16's turned 13 .12 MPG the last few days over a 600 mile round trip.

My 95 RRC will do 15 around town and 18 on the highway all the time.

My DII turned 17-18 on the highway and about 15 mixed driving.

The BW transfercase is alot more free rolling then the LT 230's and when someone claims they get 19 or more on a LT230'd disco 1. I cant help but believe they are not calculating very well.

Worst was 13.8 mpg, best was 16.4 mpg. Miles per tank range from 320 to 375 best.

Need to stop tracking, because one day you will have to walk to the nearest gas station.

I met a guy at the store in a 98 D1.
His: 98 D1, all stock, 160k miles getting 21 MPG on the highway.
Mine: 96 D1, 113k, when stock the best I ever got was 17 and avg is 15-16 on the highway.

Any one else get this kind of mileage?

Dan

Is your friend Canadian and using UK gallons? That would explain the difference.

There is a guy selling a complete 300tdi drivetrain in Illinois. His Internet ad says it will achieve 35 to 40 mpg in a D1. It's on LRO if anyone is interested.

Right now I get about 10-11 on around town driving and 12-13 on the highway. That is with 3" lift, 285/75's and 4.11 gears.

He's spouting Bullshit!

With a TD5 manual I can get 1000 km (620 miles) out of a tank (fumes at the end); translates to about 29 miles per imperial gallon, but then an imperial gallon is 4.54 litres and a US gallon is 3.85 litres. About 24 miles per US gallon

The 300 Tdi I had got about the same, but that was an auto. If it was a manual, maybe a bit better than 25 miles per US gallon

Ya, I know it was bullsh@t. I have a 300tdi. I avg about 22 in town. Best I got was 25 on a 200 mile round trip on the freeway at 65mph.

His 40 mpg is crap.

I just went on my first trip since installing Detroit in the rear tt in the front and a 2" lift. Averaged 10 mpg before was 15 mph in a "99 D1. I'm still on stock 235's so I wasn't expecting that much of a difference. I need to check it all out when I get back home.
