had CE light on, checked and i got a code of p1316. did a search and seems like someone had the same problem but had another code spit out. I only have the P1316. Planning on changing distributer cap, new rotor arm, new wires and new plugs to see if that helps at all... going to run some seafoam through before too. Any other suggestions what might be the case of this?
I not blowing smoke, coolant level is fine so I don't think it's my head gasket. Oil is dropping but that's nothing new.
Suggestions anyone?

I just had a misfire last night in cylinder 4. I am going to try to change the wires and see what that does for it. I just posted my problem about it last night. I cant remember the code # though. Sorry i cant be more helpful.

Dent I've been getting the same code also. I don't wanna believe it but my assumption is that it is sticky valves. from what i have gathered and from wht my rover mech tells me that in the early onset of sticking valves you get the P0300 (random multiple misfires) coupled with the P1316 (excessive emisssions casued by misfire) when you start to get a code which indicates specific valves then that shows the carbon build up has gotten pretty bad.

I am still holding onto the hope that maybe it's just a bad injector or a faulty coil pack. both of whihc are a fraction of the coast of the dreaded valve job.

one last note: my wife was looking over my shoulder and says to tell your wife (if you have one) to secretly sell the rover now, or she'll never got to go on that road trip to the mountains shes been asking for.

My 99 D2 gave the multiple cylinder misfire code along with various specific cylinder misfires. I changed plugs and ran some Seafoam through the intake and erased teh codes. The code came back about a month later. Someone suggested plug wires. I opened the hood in a dark garage and ran the truck, with the garage door open. It looked light a little light show under there. I changed the wires and all is good.

well, i just finished changing the plugs, wires and poured some seafoam through it. to my dismay i had no smoke show :( (was really looking forward to it).
It's not misfiring anymore but will have to drive it around abit more to make sure. However I am hearing some sort of thud coming from the enginer i beleive. Also most sounds like a muffled backfire... suggestions?

hoot: not married but ex-g/f suggested (in her words) 'you should sell that piece of shit' when my gear box died. hence she's now an ex ;) j/k .the thought has crossed my mind on many occassions to sell it everytime something breaks on it.. but it is a labour of love now isn't it? :)
