Still trying to find a clean solution to hook the Yaesu FTM-10R to the factory stereo.
My Cheap Bastard approach to MP3 players was to install a jack for a 3.5mm plug, disconnecting the circuit between the outputs of the head unit and inputs of the amplifier, and connecting the player straight to the amp.
With the ham radio grounded to the battery, it immediately produces a bad case of ground loop.
I isolated the input from output of the audio cable galvanically using two small transformers - a lot better but still noisy.
