1998 Land Rover Discovery LE
104,xxx miles
Woodcote green

I’m moving and buying a new house. Ive enjoyed this truck for over 4 years and she has never left me stranded. It will be difficult to watch “Molly” go, but I would like to see someone enjoy her the way she was meant to be enjoyed. I am asking $6800

I bought the truck with 63k from the original owner. Title is clear and in hand. Truck was maintained by Land Rover Charleston, NC including 60k service. I have been meticulous with the maintenance since my ownership. I am the only person to touch this truck mechanically during my ownership. This is my daily driver and has been used off-road regularly. She has made several long trips (800+) recently with no problems. Oil is always changed regularly. U-Joints greased and Diff oil changed after each off-road trip. Transmission fluid changed when I bought the truck and again at 100k. Coolant changed this month. Last summer a new water pump, thermostat, brass plug, and HD fan clutch was installed. It doesn’t overheat at all now. I just got it aligned with new tie rod ends. Passenger side swivel ball was rebuilt 2 years ago due to a leaking swivel seal. Interstate battery is less than 6 months old. This truck has been my daily driver and I would trust it to go anywhere. Highway gas mileage has been approx 15mpg.

She is rough on the outside, but in good shape inside. The leather is in great condition with no rips or tears, even on the driver’s seat. I have always put leather conditioner on and used covers when off-roading. Power seat controls all work, as do the seat heaters. I haven’t seen any rust and truck has been in the south since new. The panels are scratched pretty good. There are numerous dents on all doors and rear hatch. A dent is on the roof near the passenger side alpine window, but there is no leak from this area. All doors open and close with no problems. The factory gas tank shield took a big hit last year, but the gas tank is intact and not leaking. Next mod was going to be gas tank armor. I had a leak from the front sunroof that messed up the headliner slightly, but this was fixed by unclogging the drain. Stock radio and CD changer works fine, however, sometimes the CD changer has a tough time reading certain CD (usually the home made types).

AC and heat work great. It is a rear air equipped, 7 passenger truck. One of the jumpseats was removed for extra cargo space, but it will be included with the truck. The rear cargo storage box is also included. The front pinion seal leaks a very small amount.

It is simply amazing off-road, and I would trust it to drive anywhere.

War Damn Eagle!!

Im originally from Hamilton, Alabama. But, I relocated to Kentucky to go to medical school. I graduated med school and now am moving to KC for residency.

I would say Im around 7.5 hours from Auburn, AL. But, if your interested, Im going back home to Hamilton next weekend and that is only about 3.5 hours from Auburn. We were going to go back in my wife's truck, but would take the Disco if you were serious.

It would make a great tail-gaiting rig as well.

I will keep you guys in mind if I decide to part her out. But, I would rather see someone drive away as it is. If it doesnt sale, I'll probably keep it. However, if things change I will let you guys know.

Someone will be very happy with this truck.

She is a freak off-road and drives great on the road.

Congrats on graduation....I will give you 1500 for your thirds with detroit and truetrac....In trade I will give a set of stock thirds....then you could sell for that much less and probably have a better chance at selling

Damn! John sorry I wont get to wheel with you again, I too can vouch for the truck, I had a hand in some of the body work "modifications". Good luck in KC and with the sale! Of course you know you wont be able to live without wheeling so you might as well keep her!

What's the leak situation?
Its a Land Rover, it leaks! Suprisingly, it doesnt leak that much. All of the leaks are minor and added together, I rarely see more than a drop after parking. But, the contributors are
1. power steering hoses leak a bit, but should be an easy fix.
2. drivers side valve cover gasket. I have the gasket. Fixed the passenger side, but never got around to fixing the drivers side. It doesnt leak enough to go through the hassle.
3. Tcase leaks a little from somewhere, not sure where. But it never was enough to worry me.
4. Front diff pinion
5. Oil pan gasket

Again, all of these together rarely produce more than a drop or two after sitting a couple days. Essentially, these things dont leak enough for me to worry too much. It had a significant leak (4-5 drops over night) last fall that was coming from the oil pressure gage sensor. I replaced the sensor and metal gasket which successfully stopped that leak.

The truck starts up great and doesnt knock or make funny noises on cold starts. Ive always run Castrol 10W30. There is a very, very small crack in the exhaust manifold that makes a faint ticking noise when cold, but goes away when warm. A dab of JB weld should fix it.

I know. The more I discuss the truck, the more I realize what a good rig it has been to me. The minute it goes, I will regret it.

Pm if you change you mind...I want those 4 11s....So what are you going to do your residency in?
I will. Yep 4.11s sure make spinning 33" tires easier. The overall drive ratio is essentially back to stock.

Doing an orthopedic surgery residency.

If you decide to part with anything, I would be interested in buying your WHITE Hella stone guards if possible. That is if they look better than mine.
