I know this subject is a little flogged to death. I have just replaced my plugs and have found my HT leads to be in a state that I can only describe as "extra crispy"...

Anyway, I wanted to cut my own MSD wires since I have nothing better to do. So now I am a little confused, I know I need the universal kit for the V8 but it talks about all these different connectors, HEI, multi directional distributor plug. I may be a little dumb, but if someone could point me into the right direction.

I think I need the HEI connection because I assume the EI is electronic ignition along with the 90 degree plug sockets.

Does that sound about right for a 1998 disco I 4.0?

Thanks very much!

MSD universal V8 kit comes with two sets of terminals for the ignition coil (or distributor) side - so you can crimp on whichever suits your vehicle.
It's been five years since I replaced ignition leads on my D1, so I may be wrong - but I think you need not the HEI style terminals, but the other style.

Also included in the kit is the set of aluminum blocks meant to be used for crimping on the terminals - the quality of this crimping sucks. You may want to invest $25 on MSD's crimper jaws and buy the crimper itself from DigiKey or elsewhere.
