Very curious as to this forum's preference. Do you prefer mud, rock crawling, or trails ? Have you set up your Rover accordingly? No real point to the question, just curious what people are in to when they get behind the wheel.

Trails the way

I'm a trail girl all the way. I like to explore and check out new scenery, critters and foilage. If the trail has some decent water then that is even better! Mud gets pretty boring after a while and the damn clean up takes away from the fun of it all; but I've been known to get down and dirty in the stuff fairly often...it's Florida...it's kinda hard to avoid mud period. LOL

I like the rock crawling, espically in Moab, the slick rock is so nice, but i also like a good trail as long as there are some obsticals on it and it is not like a dirt road. I loved the mud in high school and still like it but I don't like it enough to have to clean it up, so i really try to stay away from it, however once I come to a muddy place and my buddies start goofing off in it I usally can't resist it. haha :D

I agree with Jen. I like trails, old forest roads, old farm roads, and such. The road less traveled. I like finding scenic places, encounters with interesting critters, viewing gorgeous foliage in its prime. My Discovery is stock. That's all I need. First week we had ours, brand new, we drove to the North Rim of the Grand Canyon and found some of the most awe-inspiring sites at the end of an old forest road, 25 miles out to Point Sublime. Very aptly named.

trail running to the favorite fishing or hunting spot is great fun. what ever the trail will throw at us, expect to use the winch and cross some beaver ponds on the way.

I like trails. There are plenty of rock obstacles on CO trails, but pure rock-crawling on slick rock wouldn't be my first choice. Fun,,, but I would pick trails any day. Not much mud out here in Colorado, but from some of the picks I've seen I'm thinking I'm not set up well for UK/East Coast style mud,,,probably too high COG & wrong tires. Plus I don't have any seat covers....

i thoroughly enjoy rocky trails. lots of washed out riverbeds coming off the mountains around here...kinda like dusy ershim stuff. water crossings are fun but mud sucks...my truck is almost always covered in it...hard to get off and usually have to rewax afterwards...no fun. rock crawling...not my cup of tea. im not rich enough to replace broken parts and dented body panels often.

i am definatley in it for the scenery and the solitude. i was pretty heavy into backpacking and mountain biking before i got into offroading...i guess thats why my belly is starting to bulge a-bit...

i love the mountains for offroading and although the town i live in sucks for anything else...there are pleanty of mountains to be explored and sweet trails to conquer.

I'm tending to avoid the known trails and explore other trails and legal roads that exist. Exploring bits never tried before, especially if you are on your own can be a true challenge at times.....

I really enjoy trails with obstacles as you go. Trails in the mountains are great because you end up seeing a lot of really cool creeks/streams/waterfalls and lots of beautiful rock formations/mountain faces.

Some of the most fun I've had offroad was exploring old abandoned state owned roads in Vermont. Beautiful scenery, waterfalls, streams... Significant erosion on many of the 40-50 year abandoned roads made for some good obstacles. Can't wait to get back up there.

It has certainly lived to fight another day, but that was a bummer. I really like the Forrest Service Roads around here because you can cover some serious ground through forrests and over passes the reach 12,000 feet. There are almost always tough trails off on the sides as well.

Desert trails. I love wide open spaces. Tree's just get in the way of a good view :D

I use my LR as a commuter, only thing is I usually end up working between St. George, Utah and Moab, Utah. I am finally set up for the desert trails, last thing is a Hannibal rack. I avoid the mud at all costs in the desert, because you may end up leaving ruts for years to come because of the infrequent rain. When it comes to rock crawling I grab my mountain bike.

Mainly I use my LR to get out and away from people. Not that I have a problem with people, I just like them a lot more when they are not around.

Trails with a mixture of river crossings, rock gardens, gate keepers, snow, and good scenery all leading to some good fishing or hunting.
