At your mom's
...THEN... I tuned my daughter's 3/4 sized steel string down to open G and hacked my way through the intro to "Can't You Hear Me Knocking?" and worked out the whole damn rhythm part of "Brown Sugar".

That was too easy, why'd I wait 30 years to try to play like Keef?

I think Robert Earl Keen is about as good as it gets for Texas Music...but that song never did much for me. I really don't understand it's lasting popularity but I'm sure REK appreciates the royalty checks.

Some of my favorites...

Classic REK banter and a great newer song:

A very young REK on Texas Connection, back when Bryan Duckworth was still in the band.

A little pre-punk. The Modern Lovers.

Listen to that then try Roadrunner and Girlfren. Dig on the clear cool soulfull keyboard. The crisp guitar. Do you not have ears?:)
Almost forgot one! I love the USA. This song was done when it was cool to be a non patriot and hate your country.
The Modern Lovers rocked!

"We asked for Mojo Nixon, they said 'he don't work here'... "

F'ing great song on an underappreciated album. Mike, these are on my camping mix.

My other favorite song from that one:

Rob, I don't watch much TV so I never watched "Breaking Bad". I'm glued to Season 1 on Netflix tonight.
