here's my latest monstrosity. i built this one from some spare parts i had laying around. it has a columbian fn mauser action. a madsen light machine gun barrel, i still have to ream the chamber its going to be a 7mm-08. the stock is a butchered military from a gun i bought for the action, i just chopped the front off, carved the butthook into the back & spray painted it black. i'm going to refine it a little more & add a fold down mono-pod the the back. the bi-pod is home-made & only temporary untill i find one i like better. the scope is a early exposed turrent weaver k2.5 with a litscher spot-shot booster.

I would definitely have a FAL or STG-58 if I didn't live in the PROC.

The loop sling is a nice touch.

What receiver did you use? Hopefully something like a DSA rather than CAI.

Jack i did use a Century. The new CAI's are pretty good, especially for a fun/truck gun. I didn't refinish this one so i won't notice any new scratches.
the next one (when i finish the L1A1) will be a DSA para carbine.

this last build went together so smooth i didn't even need to adjust the sights (i centered them when i built it). the only thing i had to do at the test fire was to close the gas port a click.

thomas they function flawless with a good build (better than most store bought builds ie.. CAI, HESSE, Enterprise).

Thomas this one cost about $800.
receivers $250 (CAI will have to file/dremel to get it to work)-$475(for a DSA)
then figure in $300-400 in tools/ misc parts.
I paid $425 for my kit and $280 for the receiver (this is my 4th build 2 were helping friends and 2 builds were mine).
you will need special parts to make it cali legal, Look at DSA arms to get a idea on cali legal models.

DirtyJim where did you find that barrel and what were you smoking when you came up with that configuration?
the barrel is cool It reminds me of a Mann Accuracy Barrel that somebody went nuts with a lathe.

sean, i got the barrel from a guy on ebay several years ago. he is out of them & no longer sells there.
i haven't smoked anything funny in at least 10 years so it may have been a flashback.
i just like to have weird guns that stand out in the sea of remchesters at the range.
the 6.5x55swede chambered mosin nagant target rifle i'm building should really make them walk away from the firing line shaking their heads

i agree my favorite is my swiss Schmit Rubin, it's just as accurate as my new rem 700 vsf and make the rem action seem crude in comparison. for a $220 dollar rifle it's hard to beat. View attachment 32105

your creation reminds me of something from a sci-fi movie but i still haven't been able to remember which one. My fal is fun at the range with the dsa muzzle brake it will make the shooters next to me scramble for cover.
