The "funny" part is that the cannonball, according to the article went through a house and covered a substantial distance before ending up in the wall of another residence (as depicted in the above pic).

The cantaloupe-sized cannonball missed the water, tore through a cinder-block wall, skipped off a hillside and flew some 700 yards east, ...
There, the 6-inch projectile bounced in front of a home on quiet Cassata Place, ripped through the front door, raced up the stairs and blasted through a bedroom, ...
The ball wasn't done bouncing.

Traveling nearly a mile and hardly losing steam! That's some serious kinetic energy...

I wonder about that. Seems like a lot of energy for a cannon ball. why weren't they at the AFB to do that? There's a mile long runway with a bay at the end if something goes wrong.

That's what happens when "science" is done by special effects people and not scientists or engineers.

Just sayin'...

(The only thing worse is when politicians pretend they understand science.)

I can't stand to watch that show as their 'scientific method' is a joke. Their methods are laughable. I've seen experiments run more tightly at a high school science fair.

It's about being entertained, not scientifically educated. Watch PBS if you want to get smarter. Watch Mythbusters if you want to see big explosions and lots of stupid tricks with guns.

Needs more titties.

And fewer dudes with berets and silly moustachios. It would have been interesting to sit in on the conversation between the show's producers and the insurance company when they were drawing up the policy for Mythbusters. I wonder what kind of liability coverage they have.

Holy Crap! That's my old subdivision. I own a house just up the hill from Springdale. I will have to swing by when I visit this Christmas and check out all the new stucco repairs. ;-)

I live right across the street from Camp Parks and we hear all the booms, bangs and pops from the range all the time. It's hilarious that the canon ball crossed Dougherty/Tassajara Road without nailing a passing car. That road is packed with traffic multiple times a day. Mythbusters...I liked it better when Jessi pinch hit for Karry.
