My 94 has hit the point of not worth fixing. I should go looking for a nice, easy to find and fix American suv, but dammit, I love that Land Rover! I want another one. I think I want another D1 so I can strip the old one for parts. I want to know how late I can go and still use the 94 for my personal junkyard. Am I limited do D1 or can major running gear parts fit D2? Suggestions? Advice? Anyone near Philly have an old Disco for sale?

Thanks. I might part it out and sell it off here. Exactly when was the last year of the D1? 98?

So there may be some 99s that are D1s. Got it. What's the easiest way to spot the difference? Most sellers on CL have no clue so it's useless to ask them which it is. Isn't the bolt circle on the wheels the big visible difference?

Door handles, rear bumper, location of the tail lights in the quarters. Those are the clearest giveaways for me when viewed from far.

Tail lights are probably the easiest way for a would-be, unknowledgeable seller. Low for D1, high for D2.

I am in the midst of doing something similar to your quest. I bought a nice D1 but all stock. I was picking up used upgrade parts but then found an entire upgraded truck with a bad transmission. Bought the truck, stripped it, sold (am selling) the stock bits and have all the upgrades for my truck.

Best of luck!
