Need some help/input on what may be a transmission problem...

When I'm on a hill and put it from park to drive or reverse there's a loud noise. Also if I'm driving and let off the gas and then reapply it there's a noise and you can feel the "clunk" or whatever. Anyone know what might be the cause?

my 99 dII does this... soft clunk when let off on the gas and step into it...
like its in the driveline...

I've just had the same problem with the 'clunk'.
The cause was a problem with the transfer case. I've had it re-built and so far the problem has not come back......but I've only had the car back for two days

What all did it take to have it rebuilt and how bad did it hurt your wallet?

Sure it isn't driveline slack? Also when you are parked at go to reverse the clunk is the driveshaft moving

Not moving I'll be stopped and put it in reverse. Can I fix "driveline slack"???
