Hello Everyone,

I was wondering if you all can shed some light as to which Year Series II Disco to get.
The family has started and I don't really feel safe with my child and wife in this. I need something more Family Friendly but something that can still take me in the back country.

I found a 2000 Disco II very cheap. It is basically fully loaded and ready to go. I have always love Land Rovers but thought I could never afford one until I did the research.

Are there any issues with a 2000 Disco vs. a 2002 of the same caliber? The 2000 is selling for $12500 Cad and the 2002 is going for $18000 is it worth it to buy the more expensive one?

Thank you in advance,

Zee

Got a built up TJ myself, and recently 2 1/2 months ago added a fully loaded 2000 Disco SE7. Too bad you have to sell the Jeep to get the Disco.

Anyways, I would get the 2000 for $11500.00 cad ( that's what I paid for mine with 84 000 KMS) at the most, and definitely get the 3 year warranty. Discos aren't 1/10 as reliable as your Jeep, so the warranty is a must until all the bugs are shakin off of it. I've owned mine for 2 1/2 month, and have been to the Rover dealer more often than my last 3 Jeeps combined ( 17 years). I got it from a particular, so could not get a warranty and am going towards my fourth thousand dollar invested. ( in that, I decided to replace my SLS with coils and an Old Man Emu Suspension and bigger tires ( because the SLS pump broke) ). So I'd be $1500.00 less in debt if I would have just converted to coils, or replaced the pump.

Other than that, I'd say keep the Jeep so you're not without a car when the Disco is in the garage. I'm actually driving the Jeep all week this week while waiting for the suspension to come in. And you really over did it with the Jeep to carry a family in. Mine only has a 4 inch Teraflex lift and 33 inch MTRs and I feel it useless for family purposes. Get ready for the same fanatic lifestyle as your Jeep, cause over here it's a Rover thing...you wouldn't understand.

I have a '00DII with 3" lift and 31" tires with ,at best, 17mpg. Mileage could be better but choose it as a daily-driver. Never had dependability issues. Not my first 4x4 but has been more comfortable than most. Our reasons for vehicle change are similar but I definitely wanted a rover since child-birth(mine). Plan on a D90 now that my boy has grown.

Good Luck

I'm sure he wrote 6 as a mistake, cause his Jeep has a L6. For the prices he mentionned, there's no way it's a Freelander.
