'96 Disco, 161K on the clock. I've got a carrier bearing going out in the rearend. Do I rebuild or do I try to locate a used rearend? There are several disco's at the wrecking yard here, I could prolly find a used rearend. What years will not fit? If I decide to go the "rebuild" route about how much am I looking at?

I do a little wrenching so I could do the rearend swap myself. Rebuilding it I'll prolly leave it to a guy I trust. I'd like to go the cheapest route but also want the truck to be reliable as it has been.
Thanks in advance!

Swaping out the 3rd member is the easiest way, maybe 2 hrs tops if its your first time and having another one ready to drop in. You could have yours rebuilt but your down time may be longer if you have someone else rebuilding it.
All D1 years will fit. Some may have different flanges though.
