I ordered one, we'll see how it works. I got a basic digital tstat with my new AC unit and it's basically a piece of shit. I want to be able to cool my house down from 82 to 76 from my phone when I'm leaving the office. Guess I'll have to buy an iphone now too. Oh shit, I'm becoming a Steve Jobs zombie!

There is but one innovation I'd like to see in the mass* market of home climate control. If my car can alternate between heating and cooling all by itself, my home ought to do the same.

When the target temperature is 70 degrees, the system is set to cool, and it's 65 degrees outside, it ought to be clever enough to fire up the heat. If it can't do that, I don't see the point in leaving the springs and mercury behind.

That said...

A learning iThermostat that displays a green leaf** when "I'm saving energy" and links up with an on-line service for added "convenience"*** is just plain silly.

Cheers,

Kennith

*Can be bought locally.
**Should be removed. I am in an immeasurable and constant state of both saving and wasting energy, be it real or probable, and therefore any indication that I am saving energy is both correct and incorrect, which defaults to incorrect in any reasonable universe at the bitter end.
***Statistical evidence that can be bought and sold.

Just one? Wouldn't you need one for every thermostat in the home?

I am such a geek and I have wanted a thermostat I could control from my phone/ipad/office for a very long time. That said, I primarily heat with wood and this thing can't build me a fire. Also, I don't AC my house in the summer.

What I really need is a remote device that can start a fire in my wood stove at the flip of an internet switch.
