Where's the best place to get quality parts for a D1. Last time I got an AllMakes timing sproket the keyway had slag in it that prevented it from fitting.

I bought a Cloyes timing chain from Summit for my RRC 4.6 conversion. It was in the 20.00 range. This was a dizzy truck though.

With the exception of a stripped head bolt and screwing around with that the teardown went really good. Then I noticed the head gaskets looked fine. Cleaned things up a little and the liner on cylinder #5 is down 7mm. F!!! Not sure what I'm going to do now. Weird since my low compression was in #1 and #3.

Time to find a replacement block... Easier to install a new cam on an engine stand anyways!

Went the cf route rolling the dice and put the top end on a used motor.

Irrelivent question. On my old motor the #5 piston (same as the dropped liner) had a good size chunk broken off the bottom. I found the pieces in the oil pan. What the heck did it hit to do this and be able to keep running?
