New Center Console USB Port

Simple little 30-minute job. Total cost in parts: $7.50.

Was originally going to wire it back to the cig lighter, but when I started poking around behind the window switch panel, I found the heated seat plugs are in the harness (no heated seats though ), and the circuit is energized (switched). Just tapped into that and was good to go.

A great location. I installed it at the right side of the console, a little down into the front passenger footwell.

Well done. I installed the same on the back side of the center cubby for the back seat passengers to access.

Nice! I put two outlets down by the passenger side but I like that placement, too.

Well, it actually depends...

I have an extra cig lighter socket in my RRC that is always hot to keep the fridge running....which can be a good thing or a bad thing.

The two I installed on the passenger side are always hot. All depends how you wire them.

I did that mod years ago on my D1/D2. The OEM cig outlet was trashed so I just dropped one of those into it's place. Works great and since I don't smoke it's actually useful.

All over eBay/Amazon. I put one of the double sockets (USB/cig lighter) on the rear of my console about a year ago. Wired into the same circuit as the front cig lighter.

The one I used was a weather proof unit out of a side by side ATV (Can Am) I believe for 20.00 at the dealership.

Run the wires directly to the battery, dont forget an inline fuse.

That. I had a bunch of other switches and stuff I wanted to always be hot so I just installed a small Blue Sea fuse block and pulled power from there.
