Cold air good/Hot air bad

Cold air doesn't really help, since there's a little "heater" for the intake air just before the throttle body. I realize it's only to prevent frost, how much heat could really get transferred to the incoming air?

I don't have any experience with P-38's but if they are anything like a Classic they get hot enough under the hood to cook things. So yes, I would bet you'd get a better performing engine with a cooler fuel intake. And beside the obvious if you do any fording it is a must when your sucking the air from just behind the grill thru a vacum cleaner nozzle.

I agree that it's by far one of the better homebrew snorkels I've seen for any rover.

I think the lines could be improved slightly by allow the tube to follow the line of the a-pillar until the termination of the roofline and allowing the cap to sit proud of the roof a la the RRC mantec snorkel. That last bend is a little forced to me, but overall it's looking good.

Can you ditch the hose clamp and weld or screw the top on?

I can't take credit for this since another P38 owner noticed it and mentioned it first...but has anyone else noticed the bonnet area where the snorkel goes in? P38's don't have a separate cowling section that is shown in the photo. In other words, the cowling looks a lot like a Classic cowling. The P38 hood is one continuous piece....I wonder what kind of bodywork is involved to make it look like that?
