After a couple of years looking at/debating on a few Discoverys, I finally got one to call my own! :applause:
It's a 2000 DII, base model in Rioja Red. All stock, has the owners manual binder, tool kit with trailer plug still in it, and 6 disc changer under the passenger seat. Clean as a whistle underneath; originally a Florida car, then Georgia and Tennessee.
No sunroofs. Has a drooping headliner, of course, a couple cracks in the vinyl of the driver's seat, and cracked front 'what looks like it passes for a bumper', other than that it's in great shape. 114,000 miles, New tires on it.
Shifts into low easy, all the windows work, radio works, cruise works.

...now it begins....

2000...and I'm not sure on the color. The seller had it as 'maroon'. I got Rioja Red from internet specs. It was on the internet so it must be true.

Not that I know of. I don't think Land Rover dealers have a centralized computer system for maintenance. You could only see things like how it originally shipped and warranty work, unless you called the individual dealer that did the work.

When I buy a used car without a service history, I just assume nothing has been done and replace all of the fluids, etc, just to make sure I'm caught up.

Welcome to the club. Now download RAVE, roll up your sleeves, and donate to Discoweb because you're going to be grateful for the resources you'll find here. It's just a question of when you'll need them.

I think mine was that color once…a long time ago…in a place far away from this…

Yep, Alveston Red. My first Rover, an '01 D2, was that color.

Service the front driveshaft asap; the u-joints can fail. When they go, the dancing shaft can knock a hole in your transmission.

Don't take this advice lightly. Some of us had to learn the hard way (i.e. the expensive way).

so we're still hammering out the details and delivery... but this answers a question- when I had it up on the lift looking under it, I noticed the front driveshaft had greasable U-joints, and the transmission looked new-er, more new and cleaner than the other stuff....which wasn't very dirty at all either. -Think this one has already done 'the dance'?

Also saw on the carfax that the last owner had it for 7 1/2 years, and only put an average of 2,300 miles on it a year. Is this in-frequent driving of it over the last decade a good thing, or bad? It's going to be my daily driver; will all the gremlins play catch-up on me???

I'm getting it for $4500.

I sold my 2003 with an ARB, a warn winch, 33" tires, a 2+ inch lift, a greg davis rear bumper (not installed), and also no rust, for $5000 a little more than a year ago. The miles were in the 120s so a little higher than yours, especially considering the year, but still in the ball park.

I sold that red 1999, basically stock, with less miles, and brand new tires, for $2900.

I think you can get a much better price if you hold out a bit. Of course winter time probably isn't the best time to go shopping for a 4X4, especially if you live some place that gets a little snow.
