I talked to my two, semi, local machine shops. One told me that $6800 from Turner was "cheap." Even though he has the nicest machine shop I've ever seen, he sounded scared of the Rover V8. He backpedaled a bit and said that he would install the sleeved liners if I provided them, but it didn't sound cheap.

My other machine shop, that I trust 100% (really great, old school, guy), told me to drop the engine and that he'd get to it when he can. He's been working on one of my customer engines for over a year..... That makes me a bit nervous. Not gonna lie.... I'd really like to drive this thing this year. He's built some really fantastic race engines for me, but he's buried with work and getting older, these days....

What to do....? Anybody have experience with the Rimmer Bros engine rebuild kits? $1050 seems very reasonable with pistons. The liners would run another $5-600, shipped, from Turner. Then I just need somebody to fit the liners for me.

I'm somewhat curious what my engine looks like inside. The oil is VERY clean and 95k miles. I could probably disassemble my engine, have it sleeved and re-assemble it with 90% of my old parts (new piston rings and gaskets.... maybe rod/main/cam bearings). I'd probably do it that way if I were going to sell it, but I'd like to keep it for another 100k miles.

I'm not really scared to spend money here, just don't want to throw money away.

Turner doesn't want a core from me. I would imagine I could probably sell my engine for the cost of shipping. Maybe dropping that $6800 down to $6300-ish. That would leave me installed around $7k with misc. parts and gaskets.
