New Key Copy Stuck in Ignition

Today I got my main key (with the remote) copied at a locksmith. I was able to start my car using the new key no problem, and I went and got some lunch, parked and the key came out fine. Then I started up the car and went home. When I got home however the key would not come out of the ignition at all, it is stuck at position "I". I've tried most of the usual Disco key fixes like pulling the solenoid and messing with the gear selector to make sure its in park, but to no avail. Is it possible that my new key is the problem? Maybe it is a few mm's off? But If it was a little off I am not sure why it would come out fine the first time. I'll be taking it to the locksmith's tomorrow but does anyone have any suggestions or advice?

It is an 04' Disco II

Thanks

Could be that the collar on the new key is too broad not allowing you to push the key in to extract. I bought one of those cheap as$ flip blade eBay keys and had a locksmith try and cut it. We practiced on a stock key first and this happened to me. The collar on the key was too broad and wouldn't allow the key to be pushed into the ignition and removed. The collar was hitting the red illuminated ring around the ignition.

Reviving this thread since I now have the same issue. Except mine is the original key and it's stuck on the ignition. Been going at it for a week, the problem is the ignition switch is not turning all the way from the "I" position to "0" where you can pull the key out. Does that make sense?

As a result, and with this cold spell in the north east, the battery is draining as well. Any help appreciated.

Thanks!

***Edit - found the other numerous threads on this and I will try later when I get home. Thanks dweb!

the brake shift interlock has two functions . First to keep you from putting the truck in drive without your foot on the brake . Second thing it does is keep you from taking the key out till the truck is in park . Could be the key but it could also be the brake shift interlock .
