My 97 has recently developed a new noise under the hood. It sounds like a metal to metal rub kind of like your brakes are dragging. I recently replaced my serpentine and checked for bearing play on the likley suspects and found none. Currently I just rolled over 100K on the odometer and other than the noise is running great. The noise started before I changed the serpentine. Any help would be great

Have you changed the idle pulley... I know you said you check for play, but they tend to go bad...
