Just thought I'd introduce myself, being new to the forums.

I recently picked up a 2001 Disco II with 89k miles. I'm currently doing all the major servicing on it now. The truck is rusty, but in decent shape. I've already purchased a new front driveshaft, as well as a 3" Terrafirma lift kit and the CDL linkage from Ashcroft. Just waiting on me to finish the servicing to install it all. I haven't decided on tires yet, but I'm sure we'll get to that road soon when I do some more research and probably make a thread about it.

Anyway, looking forward to being an active contributor here. This is my first Rover and I know I'll have plenty of questions for you all. Thanks for looking.

I'm new here too, but I get the impression that starting a tire thread is pretty much about as welcome as a thread on which oil to use or which coolant to use. Some things are better just left alone. :)

255/85/16 KM2's will work great with that lift on a DII.
Yep, those tires in that size are pretty popular in the community I see. They do look good.

Still, the 285/75 KM2's are awful tempting...

Take into account a gearing change in the future, unless you can deal with it.

Oh I can most certainly deal. With getting a gear change that is. 4.11s?

...some Chinese suspension from luckyeightllc

thats not really fair. even if the parts are chinese, i am 100 percent sure the option is given to the person making the phone call. and with this crowd i guarantee price, at least 90% of the time, is the absolute main factor. so as a supplier who do you turn to for availability? the home grown guys that take their time even though the quality of their work is absolutely worth every penny OR the who knows where its made part that is on your door step in 3-4 days?

this crowd is so fucking cheap it makes me giggle. that PEL100510 t-stat is a good example. i called a Rover dealer in England to shoot the shit about updated/superseded parts (long and informative conversation revealing how little LRNA could give a fuck about pre-04 products) got that part number, called Justin, and in a week I had 3 of those t-stats in the shop. THEN i see cheap fucks raving about Atlantic British selling them for a couple bucks less, months later.

my point being, whatever issues anyone may have with a vendor, when certain vendors are very open minded to spend their money on stocking parts (remember most orders are based on volume) only to be criticized it closes the gap on us enthusiasts getting shit not made available by other vendors. ever notice rovers north selling terrafirma before justin? terrafirma may not be HLC or RTE bombproof, but it fills a niche. decent quality and readily available.

yes, some of the parts he sells is most likely made in china, but just remember it's his customer base that has demanded it. FAST FAST FAST FAST FAST CHEAP CHEAP CHEAP CHEAP.

personally, Lucky 8 has always gotten me what i wanted when i need it, but fast and cheap aren't my priority.

phillip, if your comment was sarcastic, then please disregard this post.

Well those are the tires I ordered. Should arrive today. Got some nice steelies to mount them on too.

:D Those tires will work just fine. You may have to adjust your steering stops a bit. With the steelies you may not have to. Make sure you get the lugnuts.

You will likely have to trim the plastic sliders behind the front tires and remove the plastic inner fenders.

Thanks for the heads up. The wheels came with lugnuts, but they are chrome and the wheels are black... I figured I would have to remove the inner fenders. We'll see how much adjustment needs to be done once they are on.

what part of this lovely state?

you didnt buy this turd did you?
Just north of Columbus, but I'm moving to Grand Lake St. Marys. Just bought a house and I'm going to start moving within the next couple weeks.

I can't believe that guy wants 5 grand for that. I found my D2 just south of Columbus. It has 89k miles and I paid $3800.
