New ORV park in SC

I haven't seen it on any forums except our's(which is down at the moment due to a hacker) so far but I thought I'd throw it out there. I went last Saturday and the place has huge potential. Every type of terrain you can imagine and difficulty that will eventually rival or surpass Tellico. Freshly wheeled trails and heavy rain the last 2 days is sure to make it better We already had breakage and body damage on Saturday. I think the more people wheel it the better and harder it will get. It was well worth the trip(although my u-joint and 1/4 think different). :D

Another ORV park in the Southeast is great! How many acres is the property? How many miles of trails are there as of now?

I honestly couldn't tell ya but it's a big chunk of property. It was bought just for this reason though. It's got a creek running through it, 450 ft of elevation changes, and a stocked pond for fishing. If you live within 2 hrs it's worth checking out. The land will get much more rugged as it's wheeled more. The trails are kinda narrow at this point and are freshly cut. I had a blast Saturdaqy and even tore soem stuff up. After us tearing it up then pouring rain rolling through I'm sure it's even ing more challenging now. :D

Lockers are recommended and body damage is likely.

I think I've seen your name on the Us Jeeps board. It's currently down for an upgrade but look us up. We'll post rides and you can meet up with us or the Clemson guys.

Yeah, they cut one of the trails back by the 8 foot hole. I think it was a creek bed. The bottom was like quicksand. We dug up the bypass a bit and a buddy broke a u-joint back there.

I was up there yesterday (yep, wheelin on a weekday). My buddy and I were out mapping the place with my GPS and other assorted equipment. In a couple of months when the trails get widened, it'll be a lot better. I talked to Skip about the trails and he said that he was going to widen them. I couldn't turn for shit at that place. With wider trails there, it'll be a great place for rovers.

The main terrain there currently is red clay. Once the top layer of soil is gone it should uncover some nice rock formations underneath.

Oh, and its a 77 minute drive from Clemson. Main issue is going through Anderson. I am going to be working on a new route to omit Anderson since it is such a pain in the ass. I hit about 70% of the stop lights through that huge bastard both ways.

Anywho, here are some pics. I am standing on the slopes to give you an idea of how steep they are. There are some SERIOUSLY steep hill climbs.

More pics from the quick trip.

Also a quick rough look at the property from the GPS. Skip definately had a good run with his hand drawn map but this should significantly cut down on the confusion. I had 3 different maps, GPS, compass, protractor, etc and I still was pretty much lost on the southern part.

I just gotta convince Skip to let me name the trails. Expect Sammich Climb, Brooks Hill, and Porkchop loop :bigok:

That is all.

Definitely widen some of the trails. My XJ was fine but JP's YJ was driving by braille. :D Max, how'd the rain affect it? We tore up the terrain Saturday. I am personally responible for rutting up the steep hillclimb. My rear diff is open for now and I had a little difficulty getting around the rock ledge. I think I dug about (8) 1' holes before making it.

Not too bad. It had definately dried up a lot.

Trails 17 and 21 almost owned me (the trails toward the north of the property). They were so slick I was sliding sideways most of the time. I had to run the option and get off the trail before I slid sideways into something.

3 and 4...I just walked it. Damn trails are straight up. Since I was out there alone, I didn't bother with it.

All the sand was hard to deal with. Low traction.

The mud pits were cool. I ran em' before they filled em up with water.

But other than the almost-tragedy on 17 and the omitting of all black trails, I was able to clunk along with no troubles.

I got an e-mail from Skip this morning. He told me they're building a trail called Shipwreck. I've seen the entrance and know why they're gonna call it shipwreck :D It will NOT be on the map, be triple black rated, and made for hardcore rigs only.

I'm thinking the weekend of the 27th is when I'm going next. I couldn't get the Monday the 29th off to go to Tellico that weekend so I figured I'd go to Gulches instead.

It's open Friday through Sunday now but if you call they can be open during the week too.

Yeah, I hated to see it go. I beat it up, abused it, and then left her for a Jeep again. It sat for 2 months while I drove my XJ. The last time I saw it she still had the hood decal on it. A "black" Blacksheep:rofl:

Alright - its looking like the 28th is a good date for several of us.. I'll be planning on it. I guess we can firm up meeting times in the next week or so. Feel free to PM me for my contact info.

Tony- One of my techs asked if the hood sticker was a reference to the driver:eek: ..... I haven't laughed that hard in a long time:rofl: ... As of last week, she still had it on there.
