I think these say a lot for the new LR3, I like the looks and apparant off-road capabilities more and more every day. However.... this does not speak to any reliability factors, it is posh and a little too cooshy (Personally, I have gone to both ends of the spectrum though - I am keeping the '65 IIa, but I love my 2003 more every day I drive it.)

And, HOWEVER DESIGNED THE REAR END OF THAT THING SHOULD BE DRAGGED OUT INTO THE STREET AND SHOT! They obviously got the Ford intern there. It's like Ford just had to have the last word. Like they just wanted to make it look like Land Rover is bending over to take one from them, it's just painted all over the rear of that thing! WHAT WERE THEY THINKING?!?

Anyway, I'm OK now, here are the pictures: http://lrchroniclepub.proboards29.com/index.cgi?board=land22&action=display&num=1094005403

By the way, they are going to have one at the Portland All British Field Meet, I will personally challenge it in an off-road competition on the motocross track! My 1994 DI vs the LR3!

We saw one about two weeks ago at a promotional event in Leesburg. I tell you what, if it drives anything like the new RR, I'm interested! The interior is gorgeous, roomy and very space-age. Lots of buttons, gadgets, etc. The front is growing on me, but the back is terrible. It just is....and it's going to stay that way!

Read my review in the General, Non-tech section.

It'd get one for road driving and occasional off-road, but I don't think it could replace my D1.

PS The LR exec guys and the LR University Driving instructors all said they weren't allowed to drive it yet...on or off road. So, we got to sit in it and that's about all. :(

The more pictures I see of the LR3, the more it strikes as the next model in the evolution of the Discovery; that Land Rover decided it's time to retire the Discovery name.

They didn't though, its only retired the Discovery name in NA. Everywhere else it is Discovery 3.

All that money wasted on branding, just to have to start over.

Land Rovers new Terrain Response is a traction technology that is light years ahead of other 4x4's. Especially with its integrated automatic terrain sensing/locking differentials

well, when my compressor turns on and i'm locked, i'll take that 20 year old technology over this new light year technology any day. BUT if i need to go to the mall or something that new technology might be handy ecspecially over a speed bump.
