get better steering components. those skids seem like a waste to me.

agree and disagree. I agree that the steering arms and parts need to be upgraded to somethign much more beefier to handle getting banged around. However, the extra layer of protection of a skid plate can assist in protecting it even further instea of putting all the force on thesteering component itself. Correct?

One more thing to take off when you're doing maintenance.

brian. the only thing it protects is the steering dampner...which is already tucked up waaaayyy too high.

those skids are for aesthetics only. i agree, it does give it a nice filler look to the front of a slimline bumper, but for $250 or whatever it costs, i'll invest that money elsewhere.

I beg to differ, a steering guard provides protection to all sorts of important parts of the suspension and the front of the motor, because it provides a point where the rock you are climbing will force the front of the truck upwards instead of just bending shit. Also when wading it helps create a bow wave.

You can be manly and do as you want but I would not go offroad without one.

Agree 100%. I've come down off rocks and hit the front skid damn hard. If not for the skid it would have been parts-on-the-trail.

point taken. i really don't wheel that hard. my truck has turned more into a camping/travel vehicle.

as far as not going offroad without one, there are a lot of instances where good spotting can remedy that. i do seen what you mean about it pushing you up. i've run into that several specific times that i can remember, but honestly, my steering bars where what really worried me in those situations.

I don't see why this is even an argument, how could skid plates in any instance be a bad thing?

Called and spoke to Casey a while back to order a spare tire Hi Lift carrier. He quoted me $85 plus shipping. I agreed for him to add shipping when he shipped. I received it about a week later along with an invoice for $124. I emailed and asked how the hell shipping was so much when he quoted me $85 for the part. Three weeks later I haven't heard a word.

Cheers,

Mike

edit: What the hell, while I'm at it I ordered some one inch spacers for my DII from Rovertym (the new rovertym). I received them and didn't mess with them for a couple months. I opened the box and the front ones have some weird assed cuts in them. I knew they were not correctly made. I called and spoke to Jordan. He eventually remembered them. He said one of his employees was cutting them when he arrived. He quickly realized they were being cut wrong. He decided to cut the other side to make them fit so basically they have two cuts kind of a triangle looking thing. He said they'd fit. I said I didn't want them that I wanted the correct ones. He asked me to text him pics. I did. I haven't heard a word from him either.

I have spent many thousands of dollars with these vendors and I'm about done. I think from now on what I can't make I'll be sending my $ to Denny at Hard Labor Creek. At least I personally know these guys.

Mike,

Did you ever get all of this straightened out?
