Looking at new tires for the DII with OME HD lift and TJM bumper.

The tires I am looking at are:

275/65/18 Goodyear Wrangler Silent Armor
275/65/18 Bridgestone Dueler AT Revo
285/60/18 Nitto Terra Grappler
265/65/18 BFG AT

Any recommendations?

I've used Nitto's and BFG's in other sizes in the past, and they're both good.

I was also looking at the 285/65/18 BFG AT's, but I think they're too big and would require a 3" lift.

I have the nitto terra grappler 285/60/18's. I like them very much. They do make them in a 285/65 as well. The 285/60 is a good size for a 2" lift. I wish I had a 3" lift and the 285/65 nittos, but I like what i have now. Hope that helps.

Mostly dirt roads in Arizona with wash boards, switchbacks, pot holes, washes, etc. Also trails once in a while with the usual obstacles (rocks, dips, etc.).

I had great luck with the REVO's. I had no problems in snow, rain and everyday highway driving.
I didn't do any heavy offroading by any means, but they were a great all around tire for my uses.

When I need tires on my new vehicle I am going with those again.

BFG A/T's also come in a 265/65 -18...its kinda pricey but should fit good with the stock suspension

They are expensive, but you probably get what you pay for. I have had very good luck with BFG AT's on my previous vehicles.

i agree with ho it's cheaper to buy a set of used 16" wheels and new tires than it is to get 5 18" tires.

You guys should see the new trend! Want BLING and offroad, we just installed 20" chrome wheels with BFG at low profile tires on a new Tacoma. It looks like rims with a bumpy rubber band on them.

Ended up going with 16" rims. A lot more tire choices and better off road.

I can vouch for ditching the stock 18's I have them on mine and tire options suck for them. Not to mention I spent over a 1000 dollars for them installed. Do you guys know if the 18s listed here would even fit the stock 18s?

what about stock 255/55/18s Nitto Terra Grapplers....do a search...some folks have been very happy with this 18" choice and I'm thinking to get these to replace my OEM Wrangler HPs when they cup completely to the point I cannot hear the radio.

The Nitto Terra Grapplers are great tires. The 255/55/18 are a little too low profile if you do a lot of off roading IMO.

I have the Nitto Terra Grapplers in the 285/60R18s. I put them on during the summer of 2003. They are very long wearing. Ok offroad. Don't like them for MN winters though. I have a set of 265/75R16 MT/Rs that I use in the winter.

Personal I would go with the Wrangler Silent Armor as my next tire. The Nittos are nice, but they have such a shallow tread depth. The BF Goodrich A/T in the 285/65R18 is way too much money. I though I paid a lot to get 5 Nittos mounted and balanced at just under $1000.

You guys don't follow rock crawling much do ya? The newest trend is lower profile tires. The biggest reason for this is stability when off-camber.

I personally like the 18's on our DII. We run 285/60/18's Nittos and love em!
