Hi Guys,

I am new to Land Rover, just got my first car from them :) I bought a used Disco 2003 (SE). I was just wondering what I got my self in to :p and if anybody had any tips.

Also, I was told a lady had own the car before me ( think they tell everybody that when buying a 4x4 ), but anyway, it appears the previous owner had backed in to a poll or something. Just nicked up the back bumper a little bit and put it out of wack. You can't see it unless looking for it (somebody used sheet metal screws to make it so you cant tell), I was wondering how ez would it be to replace the bumper, and also if I could get a bumper that would alert me when I was about to back in to something.

replacing the bumper is easy but if it's hard to see, why bother? if you plan on wheeling it, make your own. the stock will remove itself in short order. oh, and since when did LR start making cars? ;)

Yes, you can fit an aftermarket back up warning system. If you use a trailer, though, they get very irritating. I towed with an Aviator the other day that had one, and I couldn't wait to get out of that thing.

Rear bumper is two bolts and a couple plugs for the lights, that's all. Keep up with the preventive maintenance and your truck will serve you well. Take it off road a little and you might just find you like it. Good luck with your upcoming addiction!

Go here and order a free workshop manual on pdf. Best deal going!
Click on the link. If the RAVE manual doesn't pop up, go to "other" on the left side menu then scroll down to the RAVE workshop manual. This is a invaluable tool that will save you a lot of headache. Even if you have a warranty or a huge piggy bank to pay of all work. This manual will help you understand your vehicle.

Thanks for all of the replies.

SORRY! I did not mean to offend anybody by calling LR cars. I was reading around and somebody had asked this question one time, and the answer was that "they are cars because the queen drives one, and the queen would not drive a truck"

So far I am totally in love with my Disco.

Thanks again for all of the info provided :)

don't sweat it. I call mine, at different times, a car, a truck, a Rover and other names not fit for polite society.
I, however, never call it an SUV.
