Well just bragging really. I have now had my 300TDI for a week. Bought it from a friend, drove it home from Glenwood spgs last Friday night. I need bigger exhaust and a bigger intercooler perhaps, my EGT's can get a little high on long pulls up hill.

How high is the temp getting?

1200 plus if you lay into it, that is pre turbo temp by the way. I used to have a Nissan SD33T in a Scout, they are IDI and would melt down at 1200 plus for any length of time. It doesn't help that I am at 8k feet above sea level and UP, density altitude can really get you if you don't pay attention. I am going to have a back pipe bent up at 2.5" diameter, and I run no muffler. Try that first, see if we can get the heat out quick. Then a bigger intercooler. I need to put a pre turbo temp and pressure guage set on to get accurate data.

I've been told that 1200 is not a problem in the 300tdi, so I dont worry about it much.
My EGT is pre-turbo temp too.
I can get it up to 1250-1300 on a long hill if I dont back off...

Yeah, mine too. Mine pops right up to 1200 plus pretty quick if you step into it on a hill. Right now the exhaust is my biggest limitation it seems. Aluminum generally doesn't like temps much in excess of 1200 so that's where my discomfort zone begins.

You could adjust the fueling down a bit. You running a fueling pin? Welcome to the elitist club of Nomar and I...

This is a good reminder. I have been driving my 99 Disco 1 with 300tdi and r380 for about 6 years now and this reminds me I really do need to fit an exhaust gas temp gauge. I'm running a boost pin at present but I don't do very long drives up here in the Appalachians but it pulls very well and normally no smoke to speak of.

Well I do feel elite! The fuel has been turned up a touch. I have the timing tools on the way. Right now I am dealing with the radiator poping the top of the plastic filler plug, ordered a couple extra. No damage appearant at the moment, shut it down right away. Worst case I will do the head gasket a few weeks earlier than I planned.

I hope you ordered the brass ones, they're like $3 and so much more elitist.

Yepper, got the brass plugs. Played around with the Disco last night. No damage done from the over heat. Got started on an automatic fan control. Ordered some magnetic drain plugs for the axles and t-case. I think an old fashioned all brass radiator is in order soon. The plastic plug blew out the top of the plug, the threaded portion basically just fell appart when i finnaly got it out.

I feel like the Rover equivelant of Animal Farm. All Rover owners are equal, some are just MORE equal than others! By the way saw a REALLY nice looking, and running green 109 headed toward Vail pass yesterday on I-70.

When I tweaked my pump the EGT's actually went down about 50 degrees on average. No elitist brass plugs for me. Too fancy for my RRC.
