new wiper motor-issues

Just finished installing a refurbished wiper motor and linkage, however there is one small problem. When it starts it goes down a bit first, then on its normal path. That doesn't bother me excpet I have had to set the blades higher on the windscreen than I would like, to prevent them from hitting the plastic facia. It is nice having intermittent and park features back though!

odd problem, any ideas?
