Newbie DIY'er needs advice on ignition coils

I'm replacing my spark plug wires this weekend with Magnecor 7mm
wires in order to hopefully solve a misfire in cylinder 4 (P0304).
After struggling for a few hours to get the plug wires off the coils
without disassembling anything I finally gave up and got up the
courage to pull the plenum. Of course it wasn't as hard as I
thought, just spilled a little coolant on the driveway.

Anyway, now that I've got the coil packs out, I noticed that the
number 6 coil terminal looks discolored with blue/white residue and
the terminal post seems like it is misshappen, almost somewhat
mushroomed at the top. The coil terminal end of the number 6 plug
wire is also discolored with the bluish residue. All the other
terminals and terminal ends of the plug wires look okay.

Before I reassemble this thing, should I replace this coil pack? The
truck is a '99 Disco 2 with 75k miles. I bought it in April and the
lady I bought it from said that it had had a "coil pack replaced" the
month before, but she had no records. During one phone call to LR
Hunt Valley where she said the work was done, I was told that the
truck had a "coil pack and one plug wire" replaced, but they weren't
any more specific than that and since that call they've refused to
give me any more info. The two coil packs look about the same age,
so I'd have to assume they were both replaced at the same time.

Any advice? Oh and what should I use to clean the dirty throttle plate? Carb cleaner? Does it need to be lubricated with anything?

I just went through this w/ my DII. I was getting several codes, including P0304 & P0307. I replaced my coil packs and it solved my problem. If you have the plenum off, I would replace them and any other parts, hoses, etc., and keep the old coils as potential spares. You can buy the coil packs as a whole unit (~$270) or buy the coil packs individually at ~$85 a piece. The separate units will all you to save roughly $100. Fortunately, I was able to wrestle the coil packs out without removing the plenum.
