Thanks for all the good info.
I just bought a 95 Disco, 90k miles, just $1400. Needs a bunch of little things to get it on the road, but I'm really happy with the deal.

mid-year change... you can find a few '99 DI's.

in fact as I understand it, it wasnt a mid year change, but one model was offered in DI, the others all became DII, but I havent confirmed this.

thanks for the info. like everyone already knows, i am new to lr world. i just wanted to make sure that 97 or 98 are DI. thanks again.

Watch the 96-97's...it was in BMW's hands then, and I know it was a painful transition, hence the reason I bought a 94 - well and its easy to work on and it was cheap, and modded....OK, so there was more than one reason. Ask on here about the best years, check the archives, I know this has been talked about before.

I'm still on the hunt for an 03 or 04 and doing my research on the various mods and upgrades. I'm a little confused (still) on the whole ACE system. I am a fan of disconnecting the sway bars when I go off road and a tad fear full of not having them on road. I get the whole PIA thing about reconnecting them having had to do that on my 92' YJ but with the ACE system are quick disconnects even an option? I'm considering the disconnects on the front and removing the rear as I will be running OME HD springs. Is there a Co out there making a locking hub (lock out) style quick disconnect?

D1. You can remove rear sway bar and be ok but you better have some spring retainers and ext brake lines if you have a lift. You could drop out a spring.
I havent had rear sways for yars it runs fine on road , left the fronts on for the on road stability dont know what would happen if removed somebody else can chime in,

Took front and rear off my '97 three years ago. Can't see them going back on.
