Anybody see Newt Gingrich on Meet The Press yesterday?

He is saying things that make way too much sense to ignore.

He's talking of how campaign financing should be reformed, eliminating all contributions that come from Washington (lobbyists, etc). His point was that the elected officials were from an area, and that area should fund the campaigns, not the special interest groups in D.C.

He's talking about how to escape from the bipartisan mess we've been in for so long.

He's talking of Iran and North Korea and how to deal with them.

And he's talking about all of this in Iowa and Delaware. He's in the process of visiting every precinct in both states.

Hmmm...Newt in '08?

I mean, the guy just seems to make more sense than anyone else. He's got a great command of the big picture.

He makes it seem so easy. How to save our educational system to compete with India and China. How to fix the stupid bickering. How to deal with maniac dictators. How to control spending and balance the budget.

I feel very much at ease when he speaks. I feel like there are still capable people around who can get shit done.

How quickly you forget how insane Newt was when he was in office. Toward the end even Republicans were running away.:patriot: :patriot: :patriot:

I saw AND heard the replay later on C-Span radio, and both times I was looking for someone to hold my hair back whilst I hurled the appropriate level of chunkage.

You mean when he and the republican congress balanced the budget?

Read his website. The dude is rational and makes sense. They witchhunted his ass and came up with piddly shit. He paid for the entire investigation out of his own pocket.

All this means is that things are as they always are.

The more you it makes you puke, the better it sounds to me.:patriot:

Well, generally. Karen and I get along famously as long as we're not talking policy.;)

Don't know what to think about Newt. Like I said, first thought was presidential candidate but some of the responses seemed contrived.

He had somethings to say about Republicans and Democrats. Wonder if he'll get the party seat after that.

I like some of his ideas but he is still a polititian. blah blah

He had some interesting ideas, then blew his reputation with a squirrelly book deal, other back room shenanigans. I supported him until that point, now he just seems like another talking head.

LOL, we do get along just fine, Matt.

I remember plenty about the Newt days. If you support the GOP you'd best hope Newt remains in an advisory role and doesn't get his power hat on again.

I never liked Newt or his policies, but the real deal breaker was when he served divorce papers on his wife as she lay dying in the hospital. Now there's your "compassionate conservatism" if I
(n)ever saw it!
