west of the city...
Anyone running these? The smallest size available is 285/70/16, just a bit bigger than 265/75/16s (according to the miata calculator). Supposed to be a cross between the MT and AT. They look pretty good, not many reviews out there yet. Post up if you are running them!

Looks like they siped them similarly to the BFG KM2...no 15" sizes which knocks me out of contention. I'm looking at the Nokian Vativa MT's, heard great things, price is right, look great, and since they are Nokians - good wet/snow/road manners are almost guaranteed in addition to offroad action.

chris, you would probably like the cooper st's for a nice at or the stt for a mud tire...they have them both in 275.65.18 and they should fit. I have really liked the cooper ST's

I have been running the Terra Grapplers since mid 2007 in the 285/65 r18 size.... with an OME 3" it rubs just a little on radius arms but that is all. Spacers or different back spacing would fix this.

I have been really impressed with Nitto rubber thus far.

I have put on 54,000 mostly highway miles on this set and they are still going strong, it's time to put new tires on but for the millage on a single set of tires that I have almost never rotated I don't think I can do any better.

I'm planning to move to the Trail Grappler soon to gain some additional offroad ability (the terra grappler works fine as an AT but lacks in really serious terrain) but retaining the long wearing characteristics of the Nitto rubber would be ideal. I was only getting 20,000 miles on BFG ATs.

I think I will go with the Trail Grappler 275/70 r18 this time, the overall size of 33.62 versus the 32.52 I currently get with the 285/65r18 Terra Grappler would be nice. A 285/65 r18 in the Trail Grappler is around 32.83, I think I can handle an extra half inch with the 3" using the 275/70s.

eh i donno about running the 275/70s on an OME 3"

what kind of weight is on the truck now? (bumpers, sliders, winch, tools, fuel, etc).

im running 285/65/18s in BFG rubber. a little rubbing like you said, but no major issues.

I'd think with the 70s you'd need to trim up the rear fenders a bit to stuff them completely and you will rub much sooner up front.

im running a rovertym 2" lift (which is roughly the same height as an OME 3") with D1 spring seats in the rear.

I realize this is a thread for TRAIL GRAPPLERS not Terra Grapplers.... just wanted to give a solid thumbs up for nitto rubber in general... they have lasted forever!

now regarding size, I have the OME 3" with the spring isolators top and bottom on each spring front and back which helps me a bit. I have an ARB front bumper, winch, and ARB half-rack, and the truck is used for towing often...

285/65 r18 has been a great size and looks very balanced with my lift with very few drawbacks save the rubbing on radius arms. If 275/70 with its additional 1/2 inch height and narrower width is going to cause more troubles than its worth then never mind.

I guess bottom line.... 3" OME with 8 spring isolators is right on the edge of what is possible in the 275/70 size for a D2. I will be very careful when ordering and thanks.

i just bought a set of the 285/65/18. By far my choice for the best looking tire and performance. They are a great rated tire and the size is great. The wear seems to be going well so far. Great offroad and really quiet on the highway and around town. They are a little lighter than the BFG and also thicker sidewall and 10ply. Highly recommend them.
