I can't make the Pine Barrens run later this month, so I'm heading down there (Wharton State Forest) this Saturday, Nov 6, and would love to have some company.

My plan is to meet at the parking lot of the diner at the intersection of routes 206 and 70 at noon. This will give us the opportunity to do both some day wheeling and night ops. However, if someone needs to leave early, it will not be a problem.

I have a winch, GPS, and am familiar with a bunch of different and interesting trails.

All are welcome, but be prepared for some pine striping (comes off with buffing), a muddy truck, and maybe some flooding (if you don't take a go-around and are stuck in deep water). However, most if not all deep holes have go-arounds.

If you want to mess with deep water, I'd suggest you remove the under seat CD player if you have it.

Please post here if you want to join us.

Hmm, tempting.. I'll say i'm 80% .. we can probably get some freelanders there, and perhaps some of the jeep guys too.. although id prefer more rovers than jeeps..

Rick,

We'll meet at the diner on 206 and 70 at noon.

I haven't posted on JD yet, but I'll go ahead and put it in the beginner section later today depending on the turnout.

Ryan,

Hope you can make it, I'd like to meet you.

I'll also post this on the Freelander site.

I'm up to 90% now :) My only thing, is I dont have any front recovery hooks yet.. I wasn't planning on going offroading til later in the month so I havent ordered my winch tray for the TJM so i can add hooks.. so all I gotta say is, I'm not last in line!!

I'm not too familiar with the area, but i'm assuming the diner is before the pic-a-lily if you're going down 206 from the turnpike?

Ryan,

Great! I'm glad its looking like you can make it. the 206/70 intersection is 5-10 minutes north of the Pic-A-Lilly.

And don't worry about the recovery points. I have a big shackle that will fit your hitch, and we can use the front stock points for mild stucks.

We won't be going through any "you can only winch across" spots, so it won't be a problem.

Not sure if any hippos will go this time around as most were just there, but it's possible. I would but I'll be wheeling in West Virginia with Appalachian Overland!

We may be out again in the Pinelands on the 14th though, so if anyone misses the other rides.

I'll post back here to confirm that.

Joe,

Have fun in WVA..one of our Pine Barrens regulars (Eugene) is also going to be there. Look him up, he's a good guy to wheel with.

Eric,

Glad you can make it! I think it'll be a great day.

Rick,

All right, you wanna do the stream crossing by the busted bridge with the impossible hill climb and use your ramps??

Ryan and Eric, don't worry, Ricks a bit of a madman but there are go arounds

Yeah, I've wheeled with Rick before, he broke me in quite fast by making me follow him through paths that were 1/2 the width of the rover... The day before that I could tell you exactly how many scratches were on my truck [3, no more than 2" long].. after that, the whole thing is now a scratch, but I love it!

Its been raining all day today, at least up here in Northern NJ, so the holes should all be filled in pretty well..

Anyone coming from northern jersey area and want to caravan down? I'm in caldwell, right off of 280.. 15W from turnpike.

Oh, and there are probably going to be 0 jeeps from Jersey Devil at Wharton that day.. they have a big meet up at Paragon this weekend.

Yeah i kind took a wrong turn there somewhere, oh well. BTW the detail doctor in Red Bank made my truck look BRAND NEW, even after all that. so if its worth it to ya, about $300, they can take care of it for ya, tell them the other big rover sent ya and theyll understand.

also, i think Maguire scratch X works great, I used a whole bottle on my truck, but that was nothing compared to what these guys can do.

Yeah, I'll wait til winters over and get a nice shine on my truck.. I figure if I do it once or twice a year it'll be worth it.

I've tried Meguires.. lots of it.. and have very mixed results.. It's taken out some scratches 100%, then other times it doesnt even make a dent. I'm not using a buffer or anything.. but it's weird what it'll take out and what it wont.. actually, it seems to take out the deeper ones completly, but the light ones just dont disappear!

Oh well, I won't worry about it until I ever decide to sell it.. but by that time I might just need a whole new paint job.

Btw.. Being the multimedia guy I am.. I'm definitely bringing my digital camera, but you guys want me to bring a DV Cam also? I can put together a short highlights vid of the trip or I can just cut out some clips for you guys..
