Truck was running good all day, then i shut it off to let it cool down a bit and went we went to move on i tried to start back up and had no crank. all other electricals were fine just wouldn't crank. I banged on starter, cycled the alarm, moved shifter through all the gears and pushed it good back into park and still nothing. Then all of a sudden after sitting a few minutes it decided to crank and start and was fine rest of the day. I had the ckps cause no starts before but this was different, i didn't have any of the usual relay shutter. just like a bad ignition on the crank end.

new battery, 99 D1, 125k miles, wasn't in any deep water, was 90 degrees and humid, was running close to 3 hours prior being shut off

my 96 has done this before in very hot conditions, mostly at times when it was running hot to begin with. (rovers never do that, right?)

Out of curiosity, were you able to figure out what happened? I had the exact same problem this weekend except my truck still hasn't started. I don't hear any relay chatter, I banged on the starter, battery is still strong. I tuned the truck off an saw I was a little too far from the curb and when I tried starting it to move over, it wouldn't crank.
