No oil pressure after sitting for months

So I went to try to start the Disco for the first time in months last night.

It started fine and had the typical knocking and no oil pressure as is usual after sitting. But usually the pressure comes a few seconds into it, 30 or so at most. This time it never got pressure. I tried pouring a bit of new oil in to see if I could get it pumping but that didn't help. After about 10-15 minutes I shut it down.

I checked the oil before I started and the level was fine.

I suppose the 40 deg weather didn't help.

I am due for a change anyway, so I will change (maybe today) and see if the result is different.

Any thoughts? Anything else I could do to help it out? Start a coal fire under the engine like they did during the great depression...

Changing the oil was the right answer. It was due anyway. When I changed it and fired it up again, I had pressure in just a few seconds like normal.

Then I proceeded to drive about 200 mile round trip on the highway and the old bitch did fine.

I need to drive it more often, leaving it sit like that will surely rot her to the ground.
