No representation without taxation

This letter to the editor appeared in today's WSJ and seemed to accurately and succinctly sum up what many of us feel about our "progressive" tax code:

"I worry about the long-term consequences of having fewer and fewer people actually participate in the economic funding of our government services. It seems that we are moving to the reverse situation from that experienced by our Founding Fathers: It's no longer "no taxation without representation," but representation without taxation.

If you have no financial skin in the game, you are going to vote for the candidate or party that perpetuates this advantage. And excuse me for speaking the truth, but this is the least productive, least educated and least knowledgeable segment of our population.

We waste billions and billions of dollars and millions of man hours in lost productivity annually in complying with our current tax code. Moreover, it is a source of enormous abuse and unintended consequences. We need some adults at the legislative table who disengage from class warfare rhetoric and instead focus on reforming our tax system into a fair and simple process for all of us."

I've heard something like 42,000 New Yorkers pay half of the total NYC income taxes collected per year.....in a city of 9,000,000!

Also look at the demographics of those voting for the "free lunch democrats" vs the "fend for yourselves republicans".

I've said it before and I'll say it again....not everyone should have the right to vote in this country. As referenced above, if you've got no skin in the game then you shouldn't get to choose the team captains.

All I know is that I don't want the US to be like Sweden where it was explained to me that the average person in Stockholm made 250000 SEK (a little over $30k) and was taxed 30% on their income. Yes many things are provided to them, but that is still shitty.

I find that hard to believe in NYC, but Alabama? Oh yea.

I support a flat tax, eliminate the IRS altogether.
simple and cheap.
