And the story we've all seen in the latest headlines....

Shannon Moore - Celebrity News Service
Los Angeles, CA (CNS) - Rikki Rockett, the drummer from the 80s rock band Poison, was arrested on Monday for a rape warrant issued out of Mississippi. Rockett was taken into custody when going through customs by the Airport Division of the Los Angeles Police Department when he arrived on a flight at Los Angeles International from New Zealand.

Rockett, real name Richard Ream, was booked on felony fugitive sexual assault warrant issued from Neshoba County, Mississippi. According to TMZ, the arrest stems from an incident that happened on September 23, 2007 at the Silver Star Hotel and Casino. An unnamed woman claimed the rocker forced himself on her in his hotel room.

She filed a report with the authorities several days later. Police then issued a warrant after they determined there was probable cause for the arrest.

The Los Angeles Police Department later released him the next afternoon when Mississippi law enforcement decided not to extradite him until official charges from the Neshoba County District Attorney had been filed.
********

Think he still has the Disco?

This kind of story always seems fishy to me:

"She filed a report with the authorities several days later. Police then issued a warrant after they determined there was probable cause for the arrest."

No saying hes innocent but these types of cases just seem odd to me to file a report several days after it happens. Rape is a very serious charge, shouldnt you report it right after it happens? If someone tries to kill you you dont wait a couple days do you?

This story does not add up to me. I have been backstage with Rikki, and it was nothing like what it used to be back in the 80's. This sounds more like somebody has ulterior motives. And last I checked, one is innocent until found guilty in this country, so let's wait and see before we convict the guy based on a news report.

The Disco was sold a while back.

X2!
The story does sound iffy. Why didn't she file charges that day?

Perhaps she couldn't make change... or he forgot to pay her. Probably the change.

You're right, innocent until proven guilty.

Ax summed it up quite well. Innocent until proven guilty. If proven guilty, then hang him high. Let's not forget that.

Have you ever known any women who've been raped? At the time it happened? A lot of times there's self blame, women know a certain percentage of people will suspect/blame the victim. So a lot of times they have to think about it and decide if it's worth the hassle from people. Just look at the responses here, several immediately suspecting the woman of lying.
Yes, innocent until proven guilty, but so is the woman.

I'm guessing that there probably was alcohol involved, and it is going to come down to your typical he-said she-said case arguing whether whatever did or did not occur was consentual or not. That's most likely the reason why it wasn't reported right away. We have seen this type of case numerous times before. We'll just have to see what happens.

This is true especially if the person she was with she knew or not. It takes time to figure out what to do and usually comes after a discussion with another girlfriend who may shed insoght on the situation and what may have occurred.

I know, at least in my experience at school now, that when situations like this occur, and the person involved was not known previously by the women, there is usually an immediate report.

Also, the women may not be able to report it until she herself could blow a 0.0 for alcohol :)

A group of us skateboarded with Rikki after a concert bitd('88 or '89?)....he was a cool enough guy then. Seemed very low-key.
Hope it works out for all parties.

That's why I have a rule of no sex if either of us has been drinking, unless it's well in to the relationship, or she's clearly said/indicated, when stone cold sober, she wants sex with me.
At least then I know my judgement, and hers, isn't clouded by booze.

I used to too.

Unless I'd had enough to drink that I'd forgotten my rule. Or she was hot.

Who am I kidding? I never had a rule.
