(I have 97 D1)After recently making some (steering, suspension and driveline modifications)(actually always doing something) I have several things going on(don't know if they are all related or not).I have mysterious(inconsistent but escalating) popping noise(during accelration from stop and then as I slow to a stop). Now have noise that sometimes sounds like(metal or something loose but sound related to speed or rotation(can't tell if it is from wheel area or diff). The mods I made were HD front D shaft,RTE steering components,GBR rear axles and added spring isolators front and rear.(and just rotated all tires including the spare in the mix). When we check everything(that makes sense) it all apears to OK.Last night driving was getting vib throughout and felt as if emergency brake was on.Drive it to the shop this morning and it ran fine..I think I need to get tires(possible check balance) and alignment after steering component install but I think I did too much at once. Before all this stuff it was fine but it doesn't make sense.I can't leave well enough alone but trying make vehicle more capable.Sorry for the ramble but am I not checking or thinking about something obvious?

()()((((Well I would start by putting it on a lift (and spinning) the tires (but my other thought (is )))) you may have some play in your radius(and/or) trailing arm bushings/bolts))))

If it does not make the noise on the lift, it may need the weight of the vehicle on the suspension to make it again.
As for the popping, I say bushing as well. I had a similar noise a few years back and it turned out to be a bushing between the frame and the body. Just tightened and went on.
Can't be sure on the metallic sound. Have some one drive past you slowly and see if you can hear it.

We checked bushings(frame/body) and some were loose so tightened and hoped that was it.Not.When I put those stupid isolators on(way more of job than I thought)thinking maybe springs not seated but have been off road and it doesn't(pop) when turning or flexing.Even checked diff(looks OK visually).Checked brakes like new.Checked e brake too.

Also check front drive shaft. centering joint could be the culprit. grab your drive shaft at the cardon joint and attempt to move it: ie push on it and pull onit. but dont shake it more than twice cuz thats considered playin' with it.

Thanks,I am going to put old(OE) front shaft back in to see if that makes difference.I just greased evry greasable joint on both shafts hoping...
Didn't make noise again until this morning.Wish whatever it is would just go out(I think).Got a off road adventure last weekend of Feb. and don't want it to happen then.
