Nor Cal Rovers or anyone in the Central Coast Region of CA, who's up for a run in July

Suggested day runs? How about

1) Hollister Hills
2) Big Sur loop thru Las Padres National Forrest

Ok, July 24th or 25th,

This will be my tune-up for the August 6th thru 8th Nevada Desert Run

I'll put on the table the following choices, let's get some feed back or votes

1) Hollister Hills
2) Tassajara Trail, top of Carmel Valley
3) Coast Road, Big Sur
4) Cone Peak Trail, South of Big Sur
5) Clear Creek, South of Hollister on Highway 25

I'll post this on the Nor Cal Rovers Yahoo Site

Will,
got the link to the Norcal disco owners site, but membership still pending. Out of the list given, I have only been to Hollister, so your recommendations will weigh heavily. See you guys this weekend hopefully.

I've only been to Hollister Hills, and for what I've read of the rest, HH is the most difficult of the 5

Clear creek would be second most difficult especially the dusty conditions.

I have no experience with Tassajara, Cone Peak and South Coast Road although all lead into Las Padres National Forrest. These would be your expedition style trips.

Coast Road (length 10 miles), Cone Peak Trail (6 miles) and South Coast Ridge Road (26 miles) are all somewhat interconnected from the Nacimiento-Ferguson Road that links Highway 1 with Highway 101 south of Bid Sur. I've read past new letters from Nor Cal Rovers web site, sort of reminds me of the Alleghany Trail run except for stream crossings which were the norm for that time of year, I think early spring. Willow Creek Trail (7 miles) is also near by and is rated moderate in some sections.

Cone Peak trail is an easy trail except for the view of the pacific ocean overlooking Big Sur area which light be a good spot for lunch.

Tassajara (14 miles) is unknown although classified as easy to moderate and located at the top of Carmel Valley.

I vote heading down to Big Sur area, we can scout for future camping and at the very least stop back thru BS for early dinner on way home.

Big Sur sounds like a threefor, three trails for the price of one. Haven't been there, so it sounds good as any. Any ideas for meeting place and times. I am for an early start (9 am?)

Ok, Big Sur 3 for 1

How about meeting up at the Safeway Parking lot in Carmel right off of Highway 1

9:00 AM or later if it helps those from Bay Area

Which will it be Saturday or Sunday, I would prefer Saturday

Ken, this sounds like a good run for your new Rover

I also vote for Saturday. However, I will be taking off about 5 in the afternoon to make a BBQ which my wife preplanned for me. Still leaves a good day of wheelin' though.

Rob,

Just got email from yahoo.norcalrovers

3 rovers heading to Hollister Hills on Saturday 8:00AM

Maybe we should tag along with them and skip Big Sur for now
