What is the Norwegain relation?
Where in Norway?
and
Where are you now?

So far I have:

Hey Quentin,
I knew you were out there, I just didn't want to put your name up if you didn't want it up. You know I got to thinking the other day that I have been to that military base in Sola for a little grocery shopping when I was living in Norway.

How's the weather been for you? The coldest I have ever been was down in Sandnes, I was outside for a couple of hours in January working right on the fjord, man the wind blew right through me. I think the temperature was only like -5 C but that wind is a killer. Shortly thereafter I moved to Oslo and it was like -30 and it seemed warmer without the windchill. I would cary ice cream sandwiches around in my pocket for hours while outside and pull them out and they would be rock solid. Not like that here in Oregon :)

Well, I have no idea where in Norway my family is originally from. I know my grandparents on both sides of the familey were born in Minnesota and that's where I'm from originally. Right now I'm living in Monterey, Ca for another year.

Well 3 years ago it was down to -12 (peak, average -9) for a week.
However on excercise with the forces I have lived in a 4 man temt where the daytime temperature was -22...
What is Oregon like, Only been to Florida to jump out of a plane.....

Oregon is a state with two climates. On the other side of the mountain range its desert with warm summers and snowy winters and West of the Mountains its green and rains a lot. Since its on the coast its really mild. It may only get below freezing for 2 weeks out of the year (not consecutive) and then the summers are great little humidity and from about July 5th to the end of september days are between 75 F (24 C) and 95 F (35 C) degrees with the occassional hot spell getting over 100 F.

There's no doubt about that. I would actually love to get back to Norway but the wife doesn't speak Norwegian I and fear she will feel isolated. Plus finding a job from 9 time zones away is a PITA, I've tried. Stavanger/Sandnes is one of my favorite places.

And good job on be married to a Norwegian, man those women are good looking!

minor correction, my last name is spelled Selden ;)

My greatgrandfather's name was Gjermund Persen Fossen from a small mountain town of Ljordalen near the Swedish border. My grandmother (Dad's mom) was Clara Fossen married to Manuel Selden formally Saldanha from Maderia, Portugal

I live in Washington State, USA in "Norway Park" which is owned by the "Sons of Norway". My Mom was born in Stavanger, Norway where I still have many once removed relatives. She was an Olsen. My relatives in Karmoy (near Stavanger) are Hop's (long o).

Peter, nice job getting us Norwegians together. Maybe we should try and take over the world again. My grandmother can cook for us :) . You missed a good trip to the Tillamook forest. Speaking of two different climates, it snowed today. First one of the year. It's going to be a long cold winter on this side of the Mountains. Like your Norwegian flag logo. I actually have that flag tattooed on my shoulder in honor of my grandparents.

Cheers Andy (Sons of Norway Rover Club) :D

I would have loved to go but my brother needed help moving and he has always been there when I needed help.

That's a pretty cool idea about the tatoo, I have always thought about figuring out what our family crest would be and getting a tatoo of that. And then having all the boys in my family get that same tatoo.

did you take any pictures of your trip? It would be cool to see them if you did. We will have to hook up and go out sometime. Do you get out and do any snow runs during the winter?

Peter I do have pics. the good ones are on my buddies camera so as soon as he burns me a cd I'll post them in the gallery. And yes we do several snow runs I'll let you know a week or two before the next one.
