notice all the white letters out are cheap off brand chinese tires.

I had the Dynapro at-m's on my xterra, and they still had a ton of tread on them after 50k+ miles.

They were also pretty good in snow on both the xterra and the D2.

Not endorsing...just an honest assessment as they were already on both vehicles when I bought them.

The Rangie unfortunately needed tires when we lived in Switzerland so had to purchase. Amazing enough the best price was by the dealer so they installed them. The passenger side had white letters out and the drivers side had black letters out. My request was white in. The service manager could’ve have apologized more when I showed him. It was pretty funny to me yet he couldn’t believe it!

This is the reality for most Discovery's and LR3/4's I see around here. They are sitting on a used car lot, at a repair shop, or being driven by some mook who saw "Land Rover" and bought it having no idea what they were getting in to. They drive it a while, it starts having issues, as they are bound to do, it goes to the shop, the owner gets tired of the maintenance cost and it ends up on the used car lot waiting for the next clueless buyer who thinks he'll look cool driving a Rover.

That this one found an owner willing to show it some love is a good thing, IMO. I might do things differently but to each their own.

Gave it love? He ruined that truck.
So you'd rather it look like this? Because, at least around here, that's where I see most of them headed. And yes, "gave it love". Turn the tires around and tuck them back under the truck and it looks great. At least he ain't some mook earning minimum wage who bought it off a used car lot thinking "I have a Land Rover" and is in the process of driving it into the ground.

I see literally hundreds of trucks go by me weekly like this, hundreds......

Same here. No enforcement. I remember being with my Dad bringing the family car in for annual vehicle inspection when I was a kid, but I guess no State does that anymore (just smog). So now I've gotten my share of windshield cracks from rocks kicked up by other vehicles.

I think white letters out look cool on certain vintage cars/trucks. A D2 is not one of those.

Red letters on black wheels work, though. I took a gamble mounting them and really dig the look.

I don't think white works on the DII. To be fair, the General red letters are a proper logo vulcanized on there, so it's a touch more visually interesting than normal lettering picked out in white.

Looks about the same to me. Both pictures show vehicles that should be in the scrap yard.
I guess I would say, I only owned a Disco for a few years, but wheeled for many. I can appreciate the truck and am disappointed to see what has happened to them. That being clueless people buying them for the name.

And you're going to call this guy out while posting this? I mean if stupidity were an Olympic event that would win you a gold medal.

I can appreciate that someone is keeping it on the road, but to me its no different than all the Jeeps rolling around with every accessory you can buy bolted to the side of it. Going for that "expedition ready" look. To each their own, but I prefer the minimalist approach to accessorizing a vehicle.

Where's the stupidity in that? That is a Class 4 road (public roadway) in Vermont. You could make an argument that the trail was too wet to be on in the first place, but that was the last .25 mile and due to the steep descent before it, turning around would not have been possible.

I don't get it.

The vehicle in the original post may have an ill-advised and potentially illegal offset as well as a checker plate hood, but it's pretty darn clean.

You know, you're hood is a gigantic, elevated, occasionally warm, and protected horizontal surface you carry with you everywhere. I approve of any attempts to better harness it's utility. There are, however, many cosmetic alternatives. At least it's not chrome, and it approximates the factory hood blackout, which I personally would never go without.

Cheers,

Kennith
